Responding to a divisive political campaign, THE RESISTER PROJECT is a variety show of performances featuring 10-new plays, stand-up comedy, music and poetry. By and for the community of indie theater artists to partake in peaceful resistance through the power of live performance, every night will also feature dialogues and talkbacks. Proceeds from the evening will be donated to the ACLU.

We had planned to produce a show about Britney Spears in January, but we decided to cancel and put all our resources towards supporting a political project. We had to take stock of our mission which is to produce theater that fosters the right conversation and at the right time, and we decided that THE BRITNEY PROJECT (a show about celebrity-obsession and harmful aspects of pop culture) is actually NOT the right conversation right now.
It really affected us that 52% of white women voted for Trump. For us, that was a reminder to look at the conversations we were participating in and whether or not we were leading or listening. So, we want to support a series of performances but we want to take a step back creatively - and support a space for particularly threatened and marginalized artists to speak.

Resistance is Fertile: Artists Activate in the Age of Trump |
Our pending emperor is infamous for not doing much to prepare; The Resister Project is a good first enactment, by and for the people, of taking the lead. |
"Nice people made the best Nazis. My mom grew up next to them. They got along, refused to make waves, looked the other way when things got ugly and focused on happier things than 'politics.' They were lovely people who turned their heads as their neighbors were dragged away. You know who weren't nice people? Resisters."
